Workshop news

Workshop update.

With a New Year we also started with new cars. After finishing the 21 window samba (except for the tranny that’s gone to rebuild) Koen started another major project. The  Westfalia SO34 Flip seat top resto…

Back from the paint shop and untouched since it needs complete re-assembling… it looks like a space ship still from the front…:)

and even interior is all out, paint job was in and out!

on the other side of the workshop we started detailling the magic original mint condition 1955 stratos silver ragtop, we had to take of one fender to take out some old parking dents, not an easy task on an all original car!

Meanwhile we decided to keep the period covers on the seats, as we like too much, too much fifty’s, we can’t get enough of this! But we will probably never know how the nice interior looks under it! well maybe the next owner/caretaker will decide to remove…

after this stratos a complete nice original 53 oval in glossy black  first paint lines up for detail… Yes, we’re your source for real early collectables!

The Bleu and white 65 samba was finished, but @ testing seems the tranny gavesome troubles, so back in the shop and tranny out and away for rebuild…

and finally also Nicolas and his friends thought it was about time to wash and detail their scale bus… the real world…. in scale…

Split window bus steering box; the second generation!

Testing that’s what’s all about!!! After selling our first badge of steering boxes for split window bus, felt we could do better, so after teaming up with our manufacturer engineers we came out with a new “test “model, and a “test” model we better “test” like it should, on a car that drives, actually on a car that drove almost 10.000km with our first generation steering box, cheers!

The next generation has a “normal” turn circle from 2.5 circles like original, against 4.25 on the previous first badge. This eliminates same time the “middle play” as that was simply too much on some of our first generations…

outside they still look the same…

Koen, our mechanic, takes the honours….

Fits well like before, the very little adjustment @ the chassis stays for now….

Are You ready for the testdrive???

 Fuel up and Go!

 Windy roads, perfect for testing….

and finally a testdrive from the headhoncho himself!

The BBT trusty back up truck a real crew cab with character!

We learned a lot, and found a couple of things that needs further attention, middle play has to be further reduced (better adjustment on the play between gears inside) and the keyhole is currently wrong positioned, so we updated all files and are back on the table with the engineers,

…. to be continued!

What’s up in the workshop?

Seems like no news about the workshop ever hitting this blog anymore….

BBT’s master mechanic Koen tries to finish our beautiful 1965 seablue/bluewhite samba, a top of the bill bus… so cool, 21 windows for You to look trough! We have a waiting list when finished, I’m really wondering where this one will end up to!

front looks cool, okay buffers, tell me the logo should be chrome (as we don’t know…:)) but hey we wanted it a little different, we like this blue logo, so cool!

Offcourse this only one of the many busses we have, as BBT stay’s splitwindowbus heaven, any particular dream we might can make true…

BBT’s tow truck prepared for winter storage!

Recently we took out (finally) our all original 1960 Studebaker tow truck from the parts warehouse, stored there since last open house. We gave it a quick wash and prepped for its wintersleep in the car warehouse, where it can be viewed at any visit. Hopefully we find some time this winter for brakes and engine rebuild and other updates, so we might can take to a few shows next year, but workshop order book is pretty full already…:( well who knows….

Yes we still love its patina!
