BBT’s submarine tranny transplant…

BBT’s own schwimmwagen needed a transmission overhaul badly… so first step is to take transmission out.. as from what we could see this was the very first time this tranny went out! hmmm originality!…:)

First step…engine out, now we can see clearly the baby that has to come out…

Koen, BBT’s trusty mechanic and his work of art!

messy content after removal… the tranny always leaked, already according previous owner, probably one of the reasons the body never have rusted? who will tell!

anything You take off a schwimmwagen, it will always like more on a boat….:)

the fresh born over aged baby…:) Koen looks sceptic after 11 hours of hard work, in a schwimmwagen everything has to come out from above, cut a hole and take it from below would be a bad idea, as we will have problems ever schwimming again…

engine and transmission bay cleaned up, looks already way better….

from here we will bring the transmission to a very specialised shop with a large experience to rebuild ZF limited slip differentials from war time, we can’t wait to receive back and mount everything back together… to be continued.

You ‘re made from dust, and will return to dust….

our priest used to say on Ash Wednesday when pumping a black cross with a kind of patato stamp onto my forehead.

That’s exactly what this tranny must have thought when pullled out of our shelves, only 1 hour before it still held all its oil, and we put it on the ground and it was like  dust in seconds, very crazy! Nice hole huh?

look at the “eaten” alu on the side of it! this used to be a complete tranny…:-)

They come and go, the BBT saga never ends!

Kukie was busy last week, and spotted a lot, in and around BBT HQ, always nice to see it through his eyes….

the 1967 Velvet green, ready for delivery…

1957 Black oval window sleeper been prepped for its picture shoot….

1972 Baywindow with sliding roof, ready to be picked up, heading direction of Munich, Germany

Dear God, plse protect me, and my parcels. Guide our drivers and help us to understand how to make our customers happy. We will be always feeding the hungry visitors and take care for all Beetles, all over the world. Thank You God, Amen.

Frank, BBT’s own dispatch goes mountain high and river deep to satisfy customers and try to get all and every single order from BBT right on time on its destination, his every morning prayers are just part of that. Thanks God he got a direct telephone line to The Lord.

BBT’s own 1960 convertible been picked up by Wolfgang, president of the VW Cabrio club Belgium. The 1960 will be star of the show at their clubboot on the Antwerp Classic salon, a hughe exhibition for classics…

Last but not least, Kukie also visited the BBT workshops, where many was going on, as usual… all cars must be ready for picture shoots, test case for new parts or changed quality’s etc etc.

Workshop update

The workshop continue being very busy!

First we try to get the black beast patina sleeper oval window ready for its picture shoot, pretty nice and solid car, restored all as we like it… we need to clean a little behind the headlights, and inside of bumpers, give it a serious polish job and everything will look just stunning!

on the other side we have the clean red and white early bay that receives a tow hitch, and “Z” hinges under the rear seat and a Euro spec electricity update this week… we will try to have this bus ready for delivery early next week… Caroline will be very happy, I even heard through the grapevines she start to be pretty anxious about “her” delivery, we all do know how it feel when your new VW is almost in your possession, don’t we? Full shots of adrenaline, right? HHHmmmmm VW’s are so cool!
