BBT News

The Russian invasion in Ukraine keeps on going. Making more misery every day.
In Shanghai there is a  complete lockdown for two months now and they expect at least another two weeks…strictly enforced, that is…

In Somalia things are getting even worse as  one out of two is  suffering of  food shortage, and way worse to come.
So many people suffering how graceful one can be living without war, lockdown or hunger.

Let show us you our new arrivals for this week, realizing how cool it is that we can spend part of our life on a cool passion of a Volkswagen Classic car.

Too long not available activates tensions on the BBT nerve system, when tension gets too high we simply battle to find a solution.
This is no other.

Oversize main bearings for late Wasserboxer engines have been obsolete for many many years.
Locating a set for a customer was no longer an option, even most hidden NOS stocks where dry as a rock.

Not any longer, in a close relationship with Kolbenschmidt, our agent was able to fix an exclusive production run for oversize engine bearings for the late WBX engines.
For a huge factory that Kolbenschmidt is today, far away from any small volume collector car market, this rather small production was a huge exception.

They only wanted to produce if we bought the entire production run, we teamed up and jumped, making these obsolete parts available again.
In turn they gave us an absolute exclusivity. We have inventory for many years to come…:)

Therefore and before anything, we like to thank everybody involved, especially the guys from the KS sales department, who worked so hard to make it all happen.
A very special thank you also to our agent, without him we would not had any chance at all.

BBT now offers standard and oversize main bearings for the 1986 and later T25/T3/Vanagon WBX engines.
The main bearings for the early WBX engines up to 1986 are planned to arrive in the fall.

1674-0-0 Main bearings WBX 86- STD Crankshaft/STD case
1674-0-025 Main bearings WBX 86- 0.25 Crankshaft/STD case
1674-050-025 Main bearings WBX 86- 0.25 Crankshaft/0.50 case

We got these rubbers to mount the shock absorbers.
Will fit most common shock absorbers on most air-cooled Volkswagens.

Same rubber was used to guide the upper lever arm on the original anti roll bar system on VW beetles 1965 up.
All anti sway bar parts can be found HERE

The most correct hardness and perfect fit did us decide to follow ours.
Most other samples simply failed our tests.

1314-050 Rubber shock absorber (15mm) – Beetle/KG, Bus 50-07/79, Type3, Type181 / Swaybar rear upper Beetle 08/65-, Type181

The smallest rubber can be so important!
It’s no different for this small grommet around your oil filler tube on your Type 4 engine.

Lack of this rubber will cause external wear on your oil filler pipe and/or metal surrounding because of engine vibrations.
A nice add to our boot for your oil dipstick tube HERE

Summer’s here – and so are we!

The Vanagon Type 25 or T3 as we say here in Europe has seen better days – they’re back from never really being away .. we’ve noticed the demand in these picking ups strongly and naturally the demand for parts follows suit.
So today we’ve picked 2 items out of our increasing type 25 assortment we’d like to put a ray of sunshine on.

In particular for the more beefy version of the T3 aka the Synchro, we stock nearly all parts for the exhaust system, below is the LHS exhaust header.
Due to the combination of where it’s positioned on the vehicle combined with the use these vans get, they can rust over time to the point where they need replacing.
A good quality replacement with perfect fitment is available off the shelf here at BBT.

If you’re looking to replace the RHS at the same time then please use BBT # 1078-420. The collector can be found with BBT # 1078-460
If you need other parts of the exhaust system it may be useful to visit our Xploded views menu, select “engine” and half way down the page you will find all the exhaust pages for the T25/T3/Vanagon.

1078-450 Exhaust pipe Cylinder 1-3 Syncro – Type 25 (DJ) 08/85-07/92

Next up is the T25/T3/Vanagon coolant level sensor – if you have no or inaccurate readings then it may be a faulty unit!
These meet the OEM specifications for an accurate and maintenance-free operation.

Available off the shelf here at BBT HQ.

4225-101 – Waterlevel switch K-Jetronic – Type 25

The last shout out for this week goes to the sunroof handle found in type 1 & 2’s also known as the Golde handle.
Unfortunately the handles are often missing and in some cases they have been replaced with a cheap plastic alternative.

This perfect reproduction has the same details such as the ribbed handle and the engraved “Golde” logo.
Available off the shelves here at BBT.

0385-580 – Sunroof handle kit – Beetle, Bus
