Yesterdy we drove out with the Belgium Cabrio club….

Under a steel blue sky and extreme sunny September weather we had an appointment with the Belgian VW cabrio club. They make the difference that they never do a static show, but only tours, with road books etc etc… well some driving around in a convertible? hmmm there is worse to kill a September Sunday…:)

so we joined them yesterday for part of the fun… and let you enjoy from some pictures as well…

Breakfast was served in “Hangaar 110” in the middle of the old (but still active!) seaport of Antwerp, from there it went direction of the North Sea, off course not over the motorways but the way more relaxing back roads…

The Terra Brown 1963 Ghia was the first car that cadged my eyes… oh yes, I still remember when I pulled this out a Santa Barbara Californian Garage, nicely restores by Philippe Lintermans since…

ambiance at full force, drive start in only minutes from now….

 and off we go!

Mr Lintermans senior, 75 years old, just finished this 3 year restoration from “His” Ghia…. cool huh….

and more Ghia’s, these are almost looking like two sisters to me….

the stop was foreseen near an old small yacht harbour, very cool mix in an area where You find the perfect mix of Industry and green….

The presidents car… Wolfgang just finished his own restoration… this car was once bought from BBT about ten years ago, was blue back then, looks way nice in Yellow….

 Idylic?

unfortunatly we had to return after lunch stop, so we missed the rest… but on our way back we took the opportunity to visit a ghost town (yes we do have those in Belgium, unbelievable isnt’it? ) Doel is almost completely desolated… expansion preview of Antwerp Seaport… more then one town is just “gone” under water now….

Shall they still pump gas in this station?

 Graffiti everywhere, some nice ones!

 Desolated, empty… death….

can You imagine You worked your whole life for this house? and had to leave?

really very cool settings for picture shoots, but sad to see, future from yesteryear’s….

anyway, we had “another day of VW fun” for sure… and that’s what these cars are made for, after all…. the nice side of the hobby….
